Overview

Homemade cones are perfect blend of traditional recipes transformed into new fusion recipes. Cones can be readily used with different cuisines like Indian, Italian, Mexican & Chinese.

This blog is first part of Cone Series published on my youtube channel. I have tried vegetarian version of the cone recipes, and this part specially shares the details of creating the spiral cones which can be used with various recipes. The youtube video along with detailed ingredients and instructions is shared below.

Ingredients

  • Paper Cone Preparation
    • Paper plates - 7 to 8
    • Aluminium foils
  • Dough Making
    • Lukewarm water - 1 cup
    • Brown sugar - 1 tsp
    • Active dry yeast - 1tsp
    • All purpose flour - 2 cups
    • Salt - 1 tsp
    • Olive oil - 2 tsp
    • Oil or butter - to grease baking tray
    • Milk - to grease the cone

Directions

  1. Paper Cone Preparation
    • Use paper plates and fold into 2 halfs and press at center
    • Fold paper plates again from another side and press at center.
    • Use scissor and cut the paper plate from one side till center.
    • Fold the paper plates to form the cone shape.
    • Wrap the paper plates with aluminum foil inside out.
    • Aluminum foil provides insulation t the cone and prevents from burning while baking.
  2. Dough Making
    • Take lukewarm water and add 1 tsp sugar and active yeast.
    • Sugar helps yeast to bloom and form froth.
    • Take 2 cup of all purpose flour in a separate container.
    • Add 2 tsp olive oil.
    • Add 1 tsp of salt.
    • Add the yeast mixture to the dough.
    • Knead the smooth dough.
    • Rest the dough for 3 hours.
    • Knead the dough again
    • Cut the dough into 4 small dough balls.
  3. Cone Preparation
    • Take 1 portion of the dough ball and roll to form a flat bread.
    • Cut the flat bread into vertical strips.
    • Use a cone and start rolling the bread strips in spiral shape to form cone.
    • Repeat the same for all the cones.
    • Grease the baking tray with oil or butter.
    • Grease the cones with milk.
    • Bake the cone at 150 C for 15 mins.
    • DIY Cones are ready.
